What is an energy label?
An energy label shows how energy-efficient a home or building is on a scale from A++++ to G. A certified EP advisor assesses the building envelope and installations using the NTA 8800 methodology. The result is registered in EP-Online and is generally valid for ten years.
A valid label is commonly required for sale, rental and completion. Existing buildings require an on-site inspection. New construction combines design calculations, BENG requirements and registration at completion.

Answers that lead to action.
Every topic explains the practical situation and links to the Royal Label service that can help.
When do I need a residential energy label?
Learn what happens during the physical inspection, which evidence helps the advisor and why the official registration is generally valid for ten years.
Residential EPC ↗ 02 / EP-UHow does a commercial EPC differ?
Commercial buildings may contain several use functions, zones and technical systems. Correct scoping and evidence determine the appropriate assessment method.
Commercial EPC ↗ 03 / WWSHow does the energy label affect rent points?
The WWS system combines floor area, amenities, property value and energy performance. Accurate input is essential for a defensible maximum-rent calculation.
WWS ↗ 04 / BENGWhat does a BENG calculation assess?
A BENG calculation assesses energy demand, fossil primary energy use and the share of renewable energy. It should be coordinated with the design and installations early.
BENG ↗ 05 / NEN 2580Why can measured floor areas differ?
Usable floor area depends on definitions, boundaries and measurement instructions. An official report explains the measured areas and supports consistent property information.
Measurement reports ↗ 06 / INSPECTIEWhat does a building inspection record?
A visual inspection identifies visible defects, maintenance risks and points for further investigation. The report helps prioritise repairs and supports informed decisions.
