What is an energy label?

An energy label shows how energy-efficient a home or building is on a scale from A++++ to G. A certified EP advisor assesses the building envelope and installations using the NTA 8800 methodology. The result is registered in EP-Online and is generally valid for ten years.

A valid label is commonly required for sale, rental and completion. Existing buildings require an on-site inspection. New construction combines design calculations, BENG requirements and registration at completion.
